Fulltext PDFDefinition: Acute and Transient Psychotic Disorders (ATPD) represent a distinct group of psychotic disorders characterized by an acute onset (within two weeks), rapidly changing polymorphic symptoms, and typical schizophrenic features. In a substantial proportion of cases, the onset is associated with an identifiable acute stressor, and complete recovery usually occurs within two to three months.
