Fulltext PDFStatistics show that the chances of survival for cancer patients in Europe vary significantly between countries. These differences are linked to factors such as economic conditions, the quality of the healthcare system and access to health services. There are more than 12 million cancer survivors in Europe, including around 300,000 childhood cancer survivors who have been spared death thanks to advances in early detection, effective treatments and government support in the form of social security benefits.
