The use of regenerative medicine in combination with electromagnetic fields is opening new therapeutic possibilities for neurodegenerative diseases, such as Parkinson's and Alzheimer's. By energizing stem cells with electromagnetic fields and subsequently using them in damaged brain areas, it is possible to promote regenerative processes and improve neural repair capabilities. This article explores the electromagnetic principles underlying these interactions, focusing on diamagnetic therapy as a potential non-invasive therapeutic approach to support neurogenesis and synaptic plasticity.

Dysphagia Recovery Following Surgical Resection of Oral and Oropharyngeal Cancer via the Mandibular Lingual Release Approach

Swelling of the external ear (auricle) is a common presentation in clinical practice, often associated with infections, trauma, and autoimmune conditions. This article provides an overview of the causes, pathophysiology, diagnosis, and management of auricular swelling. We aim to provide clinicians with a structured approach to assessment and treatment, emphasizing the importance of early intervention to prevent complications.

Swollen Ears: A Clinical Review

Allergic fungal rhinosinusitis (AFRS) is a chronic sinusitis characterized by type I and III allergic reactions to non-invasive fungi, resulting in the production of eosinophilic mucus. Here, we report a successful use of biologics in a patient with refractory AFRS who underwent multiple endoscopic sinus surgeries (ESSs), discussing our experience.　The patient, a 45-year-old man with a history of bronchial asthma and dairy farming work, underwent the first ESS for bilateral chronic sinusitis in 2004. Although nasal sinus symptoms stabilized after the initial surgery, recurrent sinusitis let to six ESS procedures since 2012. Alongside surgical interventions, conservative treatments, including drug therapies and nasal cavity rising, improved nasal congestion and discharge but left residual right eye pain. In February 2020, benralizumab was initiated for asthma treatment in the pulmonary medicine department, leading to significant improvement in the right eye pain. Three years post-treatment commencement, no recurring symptoms have been observed. As AFRS is rare, treatment guidelines are yet to be established. Although biologics for chronic rhinosinusitis with nasal polyp have gained attention, biologics for AFRS have limit reported cases. This report suggests that anti-IL-5 receptor antibodies are effective against AFRS; however, their precise mechanism remains unclear. Further investigations into the pathogenesis of AFRS and the application of biological agents are warranted.

A Case Report of Refractory AFRS That Appears to Have Been Successful with Benralizumab

Introduction: This study attempts to see the role of weekly Intratympanic injection of Dexamethasone in the management of patients with idiopathic subjective tinnitus in a tertiary care hospital in Kolkata, West Bengal, India. Objective assessment was done by noting the change in Pure Tone Audiometry (PTA) & subjective analysis by Tinnitus Handicap Inventory (THI) score sequentially on Day 1, 4th week, 6th week, 8th week and 12th week. Methods: 55 patients aged between 18 years to 65 years with idiopathic subjective tinnitus were enrolled in our study and 0.5 ml of intratympanic dexamethasone was administered in the respective ear under microscopic vision for 8 weeks. Changes in the THI & PTA were recorded on Day 1, week 4, week 6, week 8 & week 12 respectively. Results: Based on PTA reports & THI, at the end of 12 weeks, improvement in symptoms was noted in 38 patients (69.09%), 12 patients (21.82%) did not show appreciable improvement over time, 2(3.64%) patients left the study midway due to lack of improvement in symptoms and 3(5.45%) patients were lost to follow-up. On comparing THI at Day 1 & week 12, a p-value of <0.0001 was obtained. Conclusion: The p-value based on THI change from Day 1 to week 12 is <0.0001 which is statistically significant. An improvement in the grade of tinnitus based on THI & PTA was noted at week 12. Thus, we can conclude that Intratympanic Injection of Dexamethasone plays a pivotal role in managing idiopathic subjective tinnitus. 

Role of Intratympanic Dexamethasone in The Management of Tinnitus- Our Experience

Background: Unilateral vocal fold paralysis (UVFP) in pediatric patients can be expectantly observed as spontaneous resolution may occur, however, systemic complications and poor quality of life warrant surgical intervention. Injection laryngoplasty is considered efficacious, yet data on its safety in pediatric population is scarce. 
Methods: We report on a child presenting with a potentially life-threatening complication of injection laryngoplasty. Renu Voice injection to the false vocal cord resulted in acute respiratory distress. A comprehensive search of recent studies on UVFP focusing on pediatric patients was conducted. 
Results: Our search yielded little evidence on the safety of various surgical approaches to treat UVFP. The potential risks are presented and discussed. 
Conclusion: Though injection laryngoplasty is considered safe, pediatric otolaryngologists must be aware of its complications, particularly acute airway obstruction.
